HOLD PMT 2 Victorian 14K Garnet Cabochon Snake Locket Brooch

$975.00

This exquisite  late 19th century brooch features a pair of 14 karat gold serpents coiled around glowing foil-backed garnet cabochons. In Victorian symbolism, the snake represents eternal love.

The bottom drop contains a glass-covered locket with a black and white portrait of Fredrikke, a Danish woman (1818–1897) who was married to Michael Treschow, an industrialist and landowner. The Treschow family, newly knighted, solidified their nobility by acquiring estates across Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, even building Fritzøehus Castle in 1865.
