A little history: In 1901 Queen Alexandra commissioned Pierre Cartier to design a custom necklace to compliment three Indian gowns. This necklace then became the basis of future works, and in 1911 when his brother Jacques returned from India, he brought with him some carved gemstones and fresh ideas influenced by Mughal jewels. This vibrant Tutti Frutti style then became popular in the 1920's.
