18K Georgian Diamond Shaker Locket Pendant

An exceptionally charming Georgian locket in 18K gold, displaying a richly hand chased frame in a scrolling foliate motif. Each leaf and curl has been carefully shaped with punches and a small hammer, a rare traditional technique seldom seen today. Beveled glass panels are fitted on both sides, originally intended to preserve an intimate memento - perhaps a lock of hair, miniature portrait or flowers. The compartment now holds .73 carats of assorted diamonds that shift and sparkle with every movement.
