High-quality moonstones that exhibit the best adularescence or blue flash, tend to be somewhat clear or at least semi-transparent, like this one. These clearer stones allow more light to penetrate and interact with the thin internal layers of feldspar, producing a more pronounced and striking adularescence.

Lower-quality moonstones may be more opaque, which diminishes the clarity and intensity of the billowy flash. The most sought after moonstones have a translucent body with minimal inclusions, allowing the blue sheen to stand out vividly like this one.
