Late Victorian Diamond Crescent Moon Brooch

This romantic late Victorian diamond crescent is not only stunning, it's symbolically beautiful as well. The new moon was often symbolic of a new relationship with hopes that it would "wax" into marriage. The pearls represent purity and the diamonds, good fortune. This exceptional brooch is set with a graduated course of glistening old mine-cut diamonds and lustrous pearls. As charming from the back as it is from the front, the jeweler has hand engraved tiny hearts between each diamond.  Expertly hand fabricated in 18k gold, this jewel features a removable pin fitting, making it simple to a pendant bail. 1 1/8" x 1".
