Louis Feron (1901 - 1998) Was a sculptor and master goldsmith, known in the jewelry trade as being the best chaser and repousse craftsperson in New York. He learned his trade in Paris, often fabricating his own tools. He created designs for Cartier, David Webb, Jean Schlumberger, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Verdura, but sadly these pieces bear the name of the designer, not the maker. This exceptionally rare ring was likely made for a private client, as the shank is hand inscribed “LF”. Very few pieces bearing this mark have appeared at auction. This is the first time this ring has been offered for sale it was part of his estate that was archived since his death.
