This handsome young boy is a descendent of a signer of The Declaration of Independence and a US Attorney General. The reverse is inscribed, "Miss S Cassey Rush from her little nephew John Calvert". The artist beautifully captured the true essence of the child. This intimate piece would have been a gift that was exchanged between loved ones. The compartment inside holds a small lock of his hair.

His parents were John Calvert & Julia Stockton Rush Calvert. Cassey is Sarah Catherine Rush (daughter of Richard Rush) Benjamin Rush was his great grandfather (signer of The Declaration) of Independence) and Richard Rush was his grandfather (Attorney General in 1814).

Measurements: 2 5/8” long (with bail) x 1 3/4” wide, miniature 1 7/8” long x 1 1/2” wide (measured bezel to bezel)

Condition notes: tight hairline crack to the miniature located near the right shoulder of the boy.
