This finely painted enamel miniature of Venus and Cupid dates the second half of the 19th century. The porcelain plaque is surrounded by a black enamel border accented by twinkling rose-cut diamonds and four natural pearls. The back of the pendant has small enclosed compartment which currently holds a small piece of blue silk. There is C-shaped clasp with a removable gold pin on a pivoting hinge if you choose to wear this as a brooch. The bail and the pin stem are both hallmarked with the French eagle's head indicating 18 karat gold and a partial maker's mark.
