Syro-Roman Gold and Garnet Earrings

These eternally elegant 2nd century A.D. Syro-Roman earrings were not only worn to beautify, but to indicate social status. With great skill these delicate hollow earrings were hand fabricated in high karat gold. The boat-shaped hoop is adorned with a tear shaped fragment of glass, bezel set and framed in delicate granulation. From below, grape-like clusters are adorned with glowing cabochon garnets and delicate granulation.
